You do not even need to own a computer
Computer and Internet access
The People's Network is a project which has connected all public libraries to the Internet, as part of the Government's commitment to give everyone in the UK the opportunity to get online. Lottery-funded by the New Opportunities Fund and managed by Resource, more than 4,000 library centres, including Bury MBC Libraries, have been created through the initiative.

In Bury MBC Libraries:-

You can use the computers and surf the Internet for free - you only pay for discs and print-outs.
All computers have fast Broadband Internet access and Microsoft Office applications
You can print in colour or black & white
Several libraries have scanners
You can book free taster sessions with qualified trainers - and some libraries even have regular computer classes for beginners We also provide access to certified courses e.g. ECDL
You can save your work to floppy discs and USB memory keys
There's easy access to the computers - most libraries have one height adjustable desk and all have large keyboards and trackballs/joy sticks. Each of these computers has screen magnification and screen reading software
Staff can help you use the computers if you are a beginner
As we don't charge for use of the computers they can get busy, we therefore advise people to book in advance, by contacting their local library.
